CSBH 1927 by Chisum, the Low-Emissions Fuelas Act (LEFA), was reported favorably from the House Committee on Civil Practices Thursday, April 12, 2007. The legislation protects manufacturers and sellers of low emission fuels and fuel additives from lawsuits based on federally-mandated manufacturing. CSSB 749 by Janek, relating to multidistrict litigation proceedings in cases involving claims for asbestos-related or silica-related injuries, faced no opposition in the Senate Committee on State Affairs yesterday and was reported favorably with the recommendation it be placed on the Local and Uncontested Calendar.
