Sen. Royce West
Under legislation introduced by Sen. Royce West (D-Dallas), chair of the Senate Jurisprudence Committee, the Office of Court Administration, acting pursuant to a supreme court rule or order, may implement an electronic filing system for use in Texas courts. SB 1147 authorizes a local government or appellate court that uses the system to charge a fee of $2 for each filing transaction if the fee is necessary to recover the actual system operating costs with respect to the acceptance of electronic payment methods or to interface with other technology information systems.
