HOUSTON (AP) — Texas has become the fifth state to sue British oil company BP over the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, seeking damages for the 2010 disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in federal court in Beaumont, is seeking lost tax revenue, lost revenue from state parks, damages to natural resources, and civil penalties related to the discharge of oil.

The lawsuit, filed by the office of Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, did not give a specific dollar amount for the damages the state is seeking.

In an email, BP said it would comment later Friday on the lawsuit.
