Gov. Rick Perry

Governor Perry has summoned the legislature back to Austin for a second special session to begin July 1 at 2 p.m. The legislature will consider three unresolved issues from the first 30-day session: abortion regulation, transportation funding, and sentencing of juveniles convicted of certain capital felonies.

During the first called session, the legislature passed and the Governor signed new maps for congressional, state senate, and state house districts. The new maps conform to the court-ordered interim districts in which candidates were elected in 2012.
