Skip Ogle will announce his candidacy for the Texas House of Representatives, District 6, on Tuesday at Stephenson Pharmacy in Tyler.

Ogle is a resident of Tyler and serves as the Director of Community Relations for Suddenlink Communications. He also owns Skip Ogle Homes.

“Skip is focused on the protection of innocent life, the continued protection of our 2nd Amendment rights, instilling personal responsibility, defining the proper role of government and increasing educational opportunities for all Texans,” read a statement released by his campaign office on Monday.

The seat is currently held by Matt Schaefer of Tyler who was elected in 2012. Schaefer announced last week that he will run for re-election.

District 6 covers most of Smith County and the Tyler, Whitehouse, Chapel Hill and Bullard Independent School Districts.
