STATE REPRESENTATIVE PAUL WORKMAN TO SEEK RE-ELECTION

Travis County Republican Will Seek a Third Term in the Texas House from District 47

AUSTIN – State Representative Paul Workman (R-District 47) on Thursday announced that he will seek a third term in the Texas House of Representatives.

“I’m proud of the work we have accomplished over the last three years,” said Rep. Workman. “We’ve advanced the conservative cause in Texas with common-sense legislation that cut taxes on small businesses, improved our education system and protected life. I look forward to the upcoming campaign and to continuing to serve as the conservative voice for House District 47 at the Capitol.”

In his first two terms, Rep. Workman has voted at every turn to hold the line on spending, protect Constitutional rights, stand up to the Obama Administration, and protect the most vulnerable Texans – the unborn.

Rep. Workman will continue to focus on our Texas’ long-term water and transportation needs, including protecting Lake Travis and the Edwards Aquifer. In addition, the completion of State Highway 45 and relieving congestion at The “Y” in Oak Hill and at the intersection of FM 2222 & Ranch Road 620 will remain at the top of Rep. Workman’s priority list.

Rep. Workman will continue to fight for private property rights, building upon the most recent legislative session where he filed several bills to protect the rights of property owners. The Real Estate Council of Austin named Rep. Workman as their 2013 Legislator of the Year for his work in this area.

“It has been my great honor to serve you in the Legislature,” Rep. Workman told more than 200 supporters at The Oasis. “Tonight, I announce my intention to seek re-election as State Representative, and I ask for your support.”

Rep. Workman was first elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2010 and was re-elected in 2012. Rep. Workman is one of six state representatives from Travis County and is the only Republican in the delegation. Rep. Workman has been married to his wife, Sherry, for more than 42 years. The Workmans have two children and six grandchildren and are active members of the Pedernales River Fellowship.
