Gov. Rick Perry has appointed David Schenck of Dallas as justice of the 5th Court of Appeals for a term to expire at the 2016 general election.

Schenck is an attorney, Litigation Department member and national chair of the Specialized Litigation and Advanced Motion Practice Team at Dykema Gossett PLLC in Dallas. He is a past deputy attorney general for legal counsel to the Texas Attorney General, past partner at Jones Day and Hughes and Luce in Dallas, past adjunct professor for the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law and a past law clerk to Chief Judge Henry Politz of the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is board certified in civil appellate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and is a member of the State Bar of Texas and Dallas Bar Association. He a past member of the Texas Lottery Commission, past advisor for Texas to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals Rules Committee, and past barrister for the Patrick E. Higginbotham Inn of Court.

Schenck received a bachelor’s degree from the University at Albany, State University of New York and a law degree from Baylor Law School.
