The first bill out of the gate in the House Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence Committee will be HB 19 by Chairman Leach. The bill will be heard on Tuesday, March 9, beginning at 10 a.m. This bill is one of the top priorities of House and Senate leadership (the companion is SB 17), and we urge all of our member businesses and associations to register support for HB 19 at the hearing. Thus far, the bill has more than 40 co-sponsors, and Chairman Leach would like to get a majority of the House members to sign on. Please urge your representatives to sign on to the bill, if they haven’t done so already. The effort is being led by Keep Texas Trucking Coalition, which is made up of more than 50 associations, 200 businesses, and 100 individuals. Texans for Lawsuit Reform and the Texas Transportation Association are spearheading the coalition. TCJL is a proud member and will provide maximum support to the effort.
