In accordance with HB 2384, which passed the Legislature by a nearly unanimous vote last spring, the Texas Supreme Court has appointed a task force to develop standards for and advise the Texas Board of Legal Specialization regarding a new Board Certification in Judicial Administration. The Legislature intended that the board certification option, a central component of the judicial education and transparency legislation, become the norm for sitting and visiting judges and, eventually, for lawyers interested in becoming judges themselves. TCJL will be closely monitoring the work of the task force and look forward to this important step forward in improving the quality, consistency, and intensity of judicial education and training in Texas.
