Apparently without any public statement, Justice Leslie Osborne, who was elected to the Dallas Court of Appeals in 2018, has abruptly resigned from the court. We only discovered this when Justice Osborne vanished from the court’s website. When we contacted the court, staff indicated that personal reasons are involved, but that’s about the extent of the information we have been able to get. Justice Osborne’s term runs through 2024, so the Governor now has the opportunity to appoint a successor who can serve until the 2024 election. In 2018 Osborne defeated highly regarded Justice Elizabeth Lang-Miers as part of the Democratic sweep of Dallas court seats.
