Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Rick J. Kennon of Round Rock as judge of the 368th Judicial District in Williamson County for a term effective Oct. 31, 2013 and expiring at the next general election.

Kennon has been a trial attorney for 29 years and has been in private practice for the past 24 years. He is a former assistant attorney general under Texas Attorney General Jim Mattox and a former prosecutor for the Travis County Attorney’s Office. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the State Bar Family Law Section, and the Williamson County Bar Association. He is also a past member of the Austin Bar Association.

Kennon received a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and a law degree from the Texas Tech University School of Law.
