Governor Greg Abbott today issued a proclamation announcing Tuesday, November 3, 2026, as the special election date for the Texas Senate District 22 seat recently vacated by Senator Brian Birdwell.
Candidates who wish to have their names placed on the special election ballot must file their applications with the Secretary of State no later than 6:00 PM on Thursday, August 20, 2026. Early voting will begin on Monday, October 19, 2026.
