Senator Pat Fallon

Governor Abbott has set a special election for September 29 to fill Senator Pat Fallon’s seat in Senate District 30. The filing deadline is August 28, with early voting set to commence on September 14. Rep. Drew Springer (R-Muenster) has thrown his hat in the ring. According to the Texas Tribune, two others are testing the waters, Denton Mayor Chris Watts and Shelley Luther, a Dallas hair salon owner who defied shutdown orders earlier this spring. Senator Fallon (R-Prosper) has been nominated for a place on the ballot on the ballot in CD 4, a heavily Republican district vacated by U.S. Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Heath). Ratcliffe now serves as Director of National Intelligence.
