Leo Linbeck, Jr.

Leo E. Linbeck, Jr., a revered Texas business leader and great friend of civil justice reform, passed away on June 8 at the age of 78.

Leo was Senior Chairman of Aquinas Companies, LLC and its subsidiary Linbeck Group. He joined the firm in 1956 after receiving a BA degree from the University of Notre Dame. Leo spent ten years in field and office positions at Linbeck Group before being elected its President and Chief Executive Officer in 1966 and Chairman in 1975. He was named President and CEO of the predecessor to Aquinas in 1979 and Chairman in 1990. At the time of his death, Leo served as the Chairman of Americans for Fair Taxation and Senior Chairman for Texans for Lawsuit Reform. He was a past Chairman and director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and past director of Daniel Industries, Duke Energy Corporation, John Hancock Advisors, MorningStar Foods and The Southland Corporation.
