State Sen. Leticia Van de Putte, the Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor, raised more than $2 million this year, $1.1 million of that in the five weeks after rival Dan Patrick won the Republican nomination, a period in which her fundraising outpaced his.

But her advantage may be short-lived, as the Republican front runner — who has received nearly $8 million in contributions in the last year — replenishes coffers that were drained during bruising primary and runoff campaigns in March and May.
