Harold Kim, President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform (ILR), has published an op-ed in the national legal publication Law360. The op-ed calls for trucking litigation reform in the wake of the rising number of nuclear verdicts against trucking companies in jurisdictions across the nation. The Texas Legislature adopted a package of trucking litigation reforms, HB 19, during the 2021 regular session to address many of the problems identified in the op-ed. We hope that other states follow the lead of Texas and ILR in order to maintain the economic competitiveness of the shipping sector of the economy. The op-ed may be read below.
