Rep. Jeff Leach
State Representative Jeff Leach (R-Plano) will introduce COVID-19 liability legislation in the Texas House, joining Senate author Sen. Kelly Hancock (R-North Richland Hills) as the legislative leaders on the proposal. Last week, House Speaker Dade Phelan named Rep. Leach as Chair of the House Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence Committee, where the legislation is expected to be referred. Governor Abbott has also declared the legislation as one of five emergency items that may receive expedited consideration by the Legislature. The Texas Civil Justice League Pandemic Task Force expects the bill to be available for filing in the coming days.
