Statement by Sylvia S. Romo
SAN ANTONIO, TX–On Monday morning, Sylvia Romo released the following statement:
“There is no greater honor than being asked by members of the community to consider running for public office. I am humbled by the support that I have received since announcing my candidacy for Texas Senate 26.
Governor Perry declared a Special election a week ago today. I have reassessed my candidacy for SD 26 with friends, relatives, and legal counsel. As a result of the exigent timeline and the practicality of pursuing the campaign, I have decided to allow the democratic process to continue without my name on the ballot.
My twenty years of public service has truly been a privilege and an honor.
This is a unique election. I respectfully encourage voters to learn about the candidates and exercise their constitutional right to vote: “SU VOTO ES SU VOZ!”
