Jon Opelt
In a presentation to the Medical Professional Liability Association, Jon Opelt, longtime Executive Director of Texas Alliance for Patient Access, offered the following observations about recent legislation in California raising the cap on noneconomic damages, the federal litigation challenging the constitutionality of the Texas cap, and what we can expect next session from TTLA and other groups seeking to modify the cap. The presentation lays out a convincing case for maintaining the cap in its current form. TCJL is proud of our outstanding working relationship with TAPA and looks forward to working with them to defend the cap next session and beyond.
