Texas Civil Justice League PAC Endorses Former Justice Terry Adams for
Chief Justice of the First Court of Appeals (Houston)
The Texas Civil Justice League (TCJL) PAC today endorsed former Justice Terry Adams for Chief Justice of the First Court of Appeals in Houston. Governor Greg Abbott appointed Justice Adams to the First Court of Appeals in 2020, on which he served until the end of that year.
“Justice Adams has all the qualities necessary to serve as the Chief Justice of an intermediate appellate court,” said Carol Sims, TCJL PAC Treasurer. “He is highly qualified, fair, impartial, independent, and experienced. He has an abiding respect for the rule of law and will serve the people of the First Court of Appeals district with integrity. He deserves our support.”
Justice Adams received his bachelor’s degree from Denison University and law degree from the South Texas College of Law. During law school he served as an intern for the Fourteenth Court of Appeals and after graduation was selected as a briefing attorney for the Texas Supreme Court. Prior to his appointment to the First Court of Appeals, Justice Adams practiced law in Houston, first with Beirne, Maynard, & Parsons, LLP and then with Akerman LLP, a national corporate firm with offices across the country. He has been recognized as one of the top appellate specialists in the state and currently serves on the State Bar Court Rules Committee. He also serves on the advisory board of the South Texas College of Law Review and is a fellow of both the Texas Bar Foundation and Houston Bar Foundation.
Established in 1986, TCJL is a non-profit 501(c)(6) organization dedicated to improving the state’s economy by assuring that the courts operate efficiently, impartially, and independently and that the laws governing individual and business liability are fair, reasonable, and predictable.
